This class is open to all ages — boys and girls — who want to learn Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. It’s a great opportunity for new wrestlers to develop a strong foundation and for current wrestlers to enhance their skills and understanding of different wrestling styles.
For girls wrestling, Freestyle is the style used at the collegiate level. We highly recommend that all girls learn this style in preparation for future collegiate opportunities.
Class Schedule:
📅 Mondays and Wednesdays
🕡 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
With the Michigan USA Wrestling (MUSAW) season right around the corner, it’s time to shift our focus to the international styles. Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling aren't just extra mat time; they are the best ways to sharpen your transitions, improve your hand-fighting, and build explosive scoring habits.
Our goal this year is to see every wrestler on our roster challenge themselves across three levels of competition:
-
Compete Locally: Use the Michigan local tournaments to test new techniques, get comfortable with the rules, and find your rhythm.
-
Compete Regionally: Step outside the state bubble. Seeing different styles from across the Midwest is how you turn "good" into "great."
-
Compete Nationally: The ultimate goal. Whether it’s Kids Nationals or the journey to Fargo, we want to see our wrestlers representing Michigan on the biggest stages in the country.
Communication
All communication throughout the season will be sent through Wrestling IQ. It is strongly recommended that all parents and/or wrestlers download the Wrestling IQ app to stay informed on practice updates, competition information, and important announcements.
