Why Choose WrestlingIQ Over TeamSnap?

First of all

A quick nod to the TeamSnap team

They built a great product to help manage youth sports teams and businesses.

If you're here to understand the difference between WrestlingIQ and TeamSnap, or looking for an alternative for your wrestling team, you're in the right place.

What is the difference between WrestlingIQ and TeamSnap?

Sure, there are features and product differences (which are detailed further down this page if you're interested), but the biggest difference is in our blood—which has been spent in wrestling rooms for decades.

WrestlingIQ is led by a team with deep roots in wrestling: Matt Sencenbaugh (Stanford wrestler & founder), Jeff Marsh (college coach, club owner, and former Beat the Streets National director), and Kelly Biscoglia (part of a lifelong wrestling family, UNI grad, and Michigan grad student). Together, they bring decades of experience as athletes, coaches, and leaders in the wrestling community.

If you're a wrestling club, know that WrestlingIQ is made for you—not football or other sports—to help you save time and grow your club team with software designed from the ground up for wrestling.

The Top 6 Reasons Why Wrestling Teams Choose WrestlingIQ Over TeamSnap

1

WRESTLING specific features

WrestlingIQ is built from the ground up for wrestling teams, not general youth sports. Every feature is designed specifically for the needs of wrestling clubs and coaches.

Attendance Tracking

Need to run a report for your administrator so they know who was at practice last week? With roll call style attendance, or the WrestlingIQ Kiosk, you can easily record who is showing up at practice.

Practice Planning

With out-of-building coaches, it can be challenging to keep your staff on the same page. WrestlingIQ provides a drag and drop practice planner your staff can easily review before coming to practice.

Video + Stats

WrestlingIQ video and stats lets you record a match and take stats at the same time with the iOS app. You can record on iPhones or iPads, which means you probably do not need to buy a fleet of iPads just for recording.

After upload, leave notes and feedback for your wrestlers to review remotely and record scouting information on opponents.

Tournament and Meet Management

WrestlingIQ provides specialized tools for managing wrestling tournaments and meets, including tracking wrestler stats, matchups, and results. While TeamSnap has event management for general sports, such as scheduling and RSVPs, collected data is not specific to wrestling.

Powerful, Flexible Payment Features

WrestlingIQ gives your club the ability to process credit and debit cards online for registrations, memberships, and invoices. Offer one-time payments, installment plans, or auto-recurring memberships—whatever fits your business model. WrestlingIQ handles PCI compliance and offers transparent processing rates (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, separate from WrestlingIQ fees).

Whether you need expiring memberships, flexible payment schedules, or just want to make payments easy for your families, WrestlingIQ has you covered.

2

Access to ALL features (and unlimited rosters) from the start

We understand that running a successful team requires a variety of tools. WrestlingIQ allows access to all features from day one—no tiered pricing, no capped rosters, no locked features.

3

Performance pricing instead of a monthly or annual fee that drags down your balance sheet

Wrestling is seasonal, even if you run a year-round club. Why pay the same amount for your software when you have less wrestlers during the summer? And why should you be forced to pay more every month when you hit some arbitrary member count? With WrestlingIQ you don't have a monthly cost to run your team management software.

WrestlingIQ adds a 2% fee to the parent bill so that you don't have to pay anything out of pocket. All you pay are the card processing fees of 2.9% + $0.30.

Performance pricing means our incentives are aligned as well—when you make money, WrestlingIQ also makes money—we want to help your club grow.

Example

You charge $100 for a camp.

The 2% WrestlingIQ transaction fee is added to the bill for a total of $102.

Parent pays the $102 and $2 is automatically collected by WrestlingIQ.

All you pay is the card transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.30.

If you need payment processing with TeamSnap, you'll find a "Contact Us" button—leaving you guessing about the actual cost. With WrestlingIQ, everything is upfront. What you see is what you pay.

4

No Ads and Full Data Ownership

In the last two years, TeamSnap introduced ads into their platform—even for paying teams. With WrestlingIQ, your athletes and parents won't be bombarded with irrelevant ads. You own your data, your communication, and your experience—period. You can read our privacy policy here and terms of service here.

5

Effective Communication

Team communication is deeply integrated into the WrestlingIQ software through roster organization, messaging groups, and team calendar. Automatically organize your team by event participation, group role, or team level—making it easy to send targeted messages to parents, coaches, or wrestlers. Stop manuallly managing message lists or clunky group setups. WrestlingIQ does the work for you.

WrestlingIQ has taken the management of our wrestling club from a several hour a week job to a couple of hours a month. The efficiency in which the program operates for the cost is remarkable. Having the ability to communicate, through messaging, stream registration and payments, as well as get USAW card information and get liability forms signed is convenient and user friendly. WrestlingIQ has been a game changer for our club.
